RayHawk

Today is Rachel's first day of classes as a college student.

During orientation we made a shopping stop at the bookstore for the all-important KU gear.

Last Sunday we got her moved and settled into the dorm and she met Korinne, her roomate.

Her cute Dad hauled the REALLY heavy stuff.

The bed seems to be comfortable enough.

Her cello seems happy there, and there's lots of wall space/bulletin board space for decorating.

Pictures of friends and family were strung over the bed.

It was hard to say good-bye to the boyfriend.

The Dress

She gave me permission to do this. I hope I'm not giving away too much. I'm sure I'll hear about it if it's a problem. :-)

A good man gone

My great-uncle, a man greatly loved by many people, left the world this weekend. He was loving and kind and generous and funny. Rachel snapped this picture the last time we saw him, enjoying the whole family being together.

He will be missed by many.

Night at the Royals

We took Hannah and Rachel and their "boys" to see a Royals game while Hannah and Dann were in town. The special night included a Hall of Fame game played by ex-Royal greats including George Brett, Frank White, Willie Wilson & more. That game was followed by a regular Royals game. It was a long night of baseball but the weather was perfect and made being outside wonderful. Of course, the company I kept was perfect, too. We all had a great time, nobody more than Boyd, who was in Baseball heaven.

Weekend with Hannah and Dann

Hannah and Dann came to town last week with plans to make wedding decisions now that the wedding is less than a year away. They had appointments back to back with DJs, florists, photographers, etc. and did get some vendors booked. The girls and I also did some bridesmaid dress shopping. Rachel found a couple of dresses she really liked! Yay! But I don't want to post any pictures without checking with Hannah first. She tried on her dress for the first time and it fits perfect! I took a couple of detail photos, and almost posted them, but thought better of it. Don't want to give anything away. Suffice it to say, it looks beautiful on her and she will be a stunning bride. While shopping I tried on a dress. I hadn't expected to look at something for me yet, but when I saw it, I couldn't resist. It was very tempting, but I'm not sure if it's a bit too fancy for the kind of event we're planning. This photo I decided I could share.

Rachel was the perfect maid of honor, helping big sis shop for dresses and during the fitting...

Pearl's Night Out

A few weeks ago Boyd and I decided to try out the Cherry Limeade Chillers at Sonic. We actually ordered DIET limeades. They were good. Pearl liked them, too! Of course she got the leftovers.

Need a lift?

Now that Mom has moved out of the house, we don't have a need for the stair lift any more. Any one need a lift? We'll give you a good deal on one.

Mom and her friends

It's been much too long since I wrote a post here. I'm going to try to catch up on the happenings of the past couple of months over the next several days.

First big happening was my mom's move back to Denver after 12 years living here. She had a lovely turnout of friends at an oneg just before she moved. What a great group of people make up our community!

Now she's getting settled in a new assisted living apartment in Denver and is being well taken care of. And, this Saturday is her 75th birthday. Sadly, we won't be able to be there to celebrate with her. So we'll be sending a few gifts and lots of virtual hugs and love to her new home. It's quieter around here lately and I miss my Mom. Happy 75 Mom!

Mosaic Christmas Tree

123Print asked me to do some Christmas greeting card designs in my "Etsy style." Well, that work is painted conventionally with paint on canvas—something that would take too long to do for their budget. So, I tried it out in the newly update Painter 11. This is my "mosaic" style done on the computer. I wonder if they'll like it. What do YOU think?

New jewelry in the store!

I've finally got some new jewelry photographed and listed in my Etsy shop. There's plenty more to get listed and I hope to accomplish that over the next several days. All of the paintings are there, too. I'm finally getting some of the to-do's crossed off of my list!
